The California Information Practices Act of 1977 requires us to provide the following information to
individuals who are asked to submit information about themselves:
“The University of California is requesting this information to develop and maintain a data base
on the accomplishments of alumni from UC’s graduate programs in transportation. The data will be used
by the University’s Office of the President, Institute of Transportation Studies and University of
California Transportation Center to analyze trends in alumni education and employment; and for other
purposes, including institutional self-assessment, proposal writing, information dissemination and
advancement. This information may also be used for research purposes by other university departments
and administrative offices, and by other organizations such as the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
Furnishing this information is strictly voluntary. When data are used for research purposes,
alumni names will be deleted to protect privacy. The University will not sell these data to
any individual or organization. You should be aware, however, that the information you submit
to the on-line alumni directory will be available to the general public through the World Wide Web.
You have the right to review and revise your own data file. Inquiries should be directed
